Yalchin Oytam

Yalchin Oytam emigrated to Australia from Morphou at the age of 16. Now he is the Head of Clinical Insights and Analytics at the Ministry of Health, New South Wales (NSW) , Australia. He has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Neuroengineering, Systems and Control, Behavioural Neuroscience, from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering, from the same university. In Cyprus, he went to Turk Maarif Koleji. Yalchin is also a poet and a man of many interests including history, especially political history, literature, music, language and culture. He has published a collection of poems under the title Sevda Sadigi (Love Chest). He is active in the joint struggle of all Cypriot communities for human rights and political freedoms and a reunified federal Cyprus. In his words, " humane life only begins when occupation is replaced by international legitimacy, sovereignty, and social justice for the whole island".
