“Russia may grant Turkey privileged partner status”, Pravda reports
The news site Pravda (www.pravda.ru) reports that “Russia may grant Turkey the status of a privileged partner” and that “will give Ankara an opportunity to increase its sales market”.
According to the same source “Turkey is interested in scaling up its economy” and Russia “may offer Ankara a new market”.
Although Turkey is unlikely to become a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which would have been one of the “many forms of cooperation between the two countries”, “we will hear a lot about the economic integration of Russia with Turkey in the future” and “the question of a privileged partner status may emerge here,” as seen by Konstantin Kalachev, a political scientis in an interview with lenta.ru, the online Pravda mentions in the same report.
The online Pravda goes on to highlight that despite the USA/NATO and EU sanctions, “Turkey is interested in developing cooperation with Russia in the field of energy resources and trade”.
The conclusion of the report comes from the same political scientist, Konstantin Kalachev:
“They are interested in stable long-term economic ties, and they will use all the benefits. Yet, there is no need to hold one’s breath here. Turkey is interested in us, but no one is going to sacrifice international relations for us”.
Please note that the online Pravda (pravda.ru) is independent from the Pravda paper. The online Pravda is privately owned and has international editions published in Russian, English, French and Portuguese while the Pravda paper is today run by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
